Sydney Cardiologist
Dr George Touma is an Australian trained Cardiologist with dual training in medicine and pharmacy. He has undergone sub-specialised training in interventional cardiology, with a focus on coronary arterial intervention.
Dr Touma commenced his career with a Bachelor of Pharmacy, achieving First Class Honours. He also won the coveted 'University Medal' from the University of Sydney as the university's highest academic achiever.
Following a period in community and hospital pharmacy he went on to complete a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Sydney. His internship was completed at Nepean Hospital and his physician training was completed at Concord and Nepean Hospitals.
His advanced cardiology training was completed at Nepean Hospital and his interventional cardiology fellowship was completed at St George Public Hospital, Kogarah.
Dr Touma has performed over 2000 coronary interventions and is a specialist radial operator. He is expertly trained in complex PCI including left main, bifurcation, rotablator and chronic total occlusions. IVUS and OCT imaging modalities are frequently used. FFR or pressure testing is a dominant feature of practice to ensure that a stent will be beneficial for you.
In 2017/18, Dr Touma will expand skills into structural heart disease and the implantation of cardiac valves via the femoral artery (thereby avoiding open heart surgery) in suitable patients.
